KOO is the Architect and Interior Designer for the Cornelius Early
Learning Center in northwest Chicago. The 40,000 SF Chicago Public
Schools Pre-K is a renovation of an existing Chicago Archdiocese
School. The scope included new interior classrooms, restrooms,
multi-purpose room, upgraded parking, entrances and a learning
garden.

The interior design creates moments of discovery through the
building, creating dynamic spaces and enhancing the experience for
students and teachers. The existing load bearing masonry walls in
the school were exposed and transformed via the addition of masonry arches that highlighted the central circulation and classroom spaces.
