KOO designed two exuberant, child-friendly daycare spaces within the Rolling Meadows and the Chicago Cook County Courthouses. The design for the Cook County space started with a concept from Dr. Seuss’ classic book, “Oh, The Places You’ll Go.” It combines Seussian forms and a vibrant color palette to engage and delight.

For Rolling Meadows, reflecting its more bucolic setting, KOO based the design on “The Tales of Peter Rabbit.” Natural motifs, such as leaf pattern wall covering and tree stump tables and a carpet of grass combine to create a soothing, nurturing space.

The scope of work included the adaptive reuse a former food service venue at Cook County and office space at Rolling Meadows. The design added new partitions, MEP/FP systems, bathrooms, meeting rooms, offices, in addition to the children’s spaces.
